Salix at the Smart Asset and Estates Management conference

Salix Finance’s provision of funding and support to public sector organisations to help them reach their net zero objectives was outlined in a speech by assistant director of programmes Simon Pettett at the Smart Asset and Estates Management conference at the QEII Centre, London, on Thursday 8 October.

Mr Pettett introduced the audience to Salix Finance, a non-departmental public body, which provides grants, and loans, to public sector organisations to deliver energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects in Great Britain.

His speech outlined how the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme and Low Carbon Skills Fund are helping to reduce emissions across the public sector and what lessons Salix Finance has learned from delivering these projects.

Mr Pettett said: “The conference provided a great opportunity to explain how the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme works and its numerous successes as well as talk about what Salix Finance does and how we’re working with the public sector to reach net zero.

“There were lots of really insightful and engaging questions and it was very useful being able to talk directly to energy and estate managers about our work and the opportunities we can provide them. An important point to get across was: we’re here to help, and in order to do so, it’s really important for grant recipients to keep us updated on the challenges, risks and issues they face when delivering their projects.”
