Your chance to connect with experts, learn from successful projects, and take action to drive change.

The highly anticipated Journey to a net zero Wales 2025 events are set to take place this June, offering public sector leaders across Wales the opportunity to explore and share innovative solutions in the ongoing effort to decarbonise services and infrastructure.

Co-hosted by Salix Finance and the Welsh Government, the events promise to be an exciting and pivotal opportunity for those involved in driving the country’s decarbonisation goals.

The events will take place on 11 June 2025 at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, North Wales, and on 18 June 2025 at Swansea University in South Wales. They are free to attend and will run from 10am to 4pm on both dates. These are stand-alone events, with the option to attend whichever is most convenient.

Public sector stakeholders involved in sustainability efforts, from local councils to schools and universities, will gather to showcase best practices, discuss challenges, and share actionable solutions for reducing carbon emissions.

As part of Wales' ambitious journey to achieve net zero by 2050, the Journey to a net zero Wales events aim to highlight the importance of decarbonisation and the role the public sector is playing in leading the way. The events will feature a range of inspiring decarbonisation success stories, with local councils, educational institutions, and health boards showcasing the projects and initiatives that are making a real impact in reducing carbon footprints across the country.

The events will also serve as an opportunity for public sector organisations to connect and collaborate, fostering networking and partnerships between local councils, schools, universities, and other public service bodies. This collaboration is vital in driving innovation and scaling up successful decarbonisation projects.

This year has seen the progress toward decarbonisation gather momentum across all our stakeholders in the public sector and the net zero events are a fantastic opportunity to showcase their real life successes and share knowledge between these stakeholders. The events are always well attended, demonstrating the sector’s willingness to rise to the challenge of net zero.

Gbenga Adenaike, programme manager at Salix, said: “The Journey to a net zero Wales event is an opportunity for us to come together, share knowledge, and learn from the incredible work already underway in decarbonisation. At Salix, we are proud to support the Welsh Government in delivering decarbonisation projects across Wales through targeted funding. Together, we are empowering public sector leaders with the tools, funding, and inspiration they need to drive meaningful change and create a more sustainable, green future for Wales.”

Speakers at the events will be confirmed and announced over the next month and will include experts from across the public sector who have been at the forefront of decarbonisation efforts. Attendees will leave with practical, actionable insights they can apply within their own organisations to further their sustainability goals, whether they are just beginning their decarbonisation journey or looking to scale existing projects.

The events are restricted to public sector attendees and registration details can be found via our events page.
