Team approach and collective action to help meet net zero by 2030
Wales Climate Week
When it comes to tackling climate change, the Welsh Government are adopting the Team Wales approach.
Centred on collective action, this path will see Welsh public services work together to maximise resources to push toward the 2030 net zero goal.
Taking place from 4 to 8 December, Wales Climate Week will explore the vital policies and practices behind this approach, drawing on innovative developments and ambitions for the future.
This year there will be a virtual conference which is a free event dedicated to exploring the theme of ‘fairness’ in the context of climate change.
Speakers, including Net Zero Industry Wales, BT, UK Youth for Nature, Transport for Wales and Cyngor Gwynedd Council to name a few, will explore how to fairly distribute the benefits associated with climate policies across society, by tapping into regional and local solutions.
The conference coincides with the Welsh Government’s consultation on a new Just Transition Framework which will help mobilise communities to get involved in shaping future strategy.
This process will draw on diverse viewpoints, with the hope that moving forward, climate change policies will be beneficial and applicable to all.
Salix’s delivery partners, Welsh Government Energy Service, will be presenting on Tuesday 5 December. Strategic Lead at the Energy Service, Victoria Camp, will discuss how to best work with stakeholders to deliver fair and positive outcomes alongside Caerphilly County Borough Council who have received support by Salix for a range of carbon cutting projects.
Victoria Camp said; "Moving decarbonisation projects forward in a fair way requires lots of stakeholder engagement. We’re thrilled to be speaking at Wales Climate Week on how to be inclusive without holding your projects back
"Talking alongside Caerphilly County Borough Council we will walk you through a project lifecycle and some tips and tricks to help you make your projects a success."
Hayley Lancaster, from the Council's Transformation team, will share learnings on how to effectively involve and inspire the local community.
