Salix’s Scotland Team hosted the first virtual Scottish Regional Meeting 2020 on Tuesday 15 September. The team was delighted to invite attendees to hear and learn from colleagues across the public sector inspiring organisations to further their carbon reduction plans as part of Scotland Climate Week, which ran from the 14 – 20 September.

Thank you to all who attended; the team was pleased to see both new and returning clients alongside the brilliant guest speakers.

Four presentations offered insight into energy efficiency practices and policy:

  • Amy Tickell, Scottish Government - New policy update and the direction of funding to support net zero futures.
  • Andrew Wholley, Mott MacDonald - Discussion of the new NDEEF 2020-2024.
  • Dr Ron Mould, the City of Edinburgh Council - Implementing BS EN ISO 500001 within a local authority.
  • George Tarvit, SSN - New strategy launch, Sustainable Scotland Network.

Salix delivered key updates on funding in Scotland, summarising the extension of an 8-year to 10-year payback period and £278tCO2 funding criteria. The option to implement Solar PV projects to support a more ambitious pipeline was also covered, with discussion around flexible phased payments.

Reflecting on the last year and the economic impact of COVID-19, it is clear that the sector remains focused on reaching net-zero targets, through a sustainable and green recovery.

Salix is now looking to host a series of interactive networking events based on collaboration within the public sector, with a view to sharing further updates and resources.

Salix would like to reiterate that support is currently available to the public sector. If you would like more information regarding the topics discussed at the Scotland Regional Meeting, please click here or email [email protected]
